Psychology of Unemployment

Have you ever been laid-off, fired or have your company fail? The loss of a job has many emotional aspects. It has been shown that the longer a person is unemployed the more dramatic the personality impact. Many of us identify with our jobs and this gives us a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Also we derive our social interactions and friendships from the workplace. When we lose that connection, we experience stress and this manifests by depression, becoming withdrawn and various other symptoms.
